This is our story:
“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer” (Acts 2:42) – We are Spirit-formed.
“All the believers were together and had everything in common” (Acts 2:44) – We are Spirit-united.
“Everyone was filled with awe at the many signs and wonders performed by the apostles” (Acts 2:42-43) – We are Spirit-empowered.
“The Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved” (Acts 2:47) – We are Spirit-sent.
This is our history. We are birthed out of the conviction that God is doing the same things by his Spirit in the last days – that we are a community driven by the immanent return of Christ and empowered by the Spirit to refresh and revive the church to reach the lost. And yet, never before in our history, have we had to make such an intentional, daily choice to be who we are.
Sprit-led expressions of the body of Christ do not make their own plans and ask God to bless them. Formission is not a human-generated strategy or gimmicky marketing ploy. We believe that God is reminding us forcefully of the same things the Spirit spoke to the early church in Acts and to our Pentecostal forebearers.
Formission is Spirit-led formation and Spirit-empowered mission. Our “strategy” for the coming years is straight out of the book of Acts. My Health means Spiritual formation. Mutual Health means unity in the Spirit. Ministry Health means Spirit-empowered believers flourishing in their giftings. Missional Health means a fresh wave of disciple-making disciples, sent by the Spirit on His mission.
As a Fellowship, we are covenanting together to be who we are: A truly Pentecostal people, not out of a carnal sense of denominational pride, but out of a sense of urgency. Christ is coming soon. As Peter preached:
“This is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: “In the last days, God, says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy…before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord, and everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Acts 2:17-18, 20-21).
As your General Superintendent, I pray that Formission will be a blessing to you personally as a disciple, and also to your church as you proclaim the gospel in your community in word and deed. We labour long in our efforts to hear the Spirit well and also to hear you and your church’s needs. We have commissioned and empowered Pastor Jeremy as an ambassador for Formission in our Fellowship, and we commend him to you as a resource for coaching, preaching, consulting, and producing excellent resources for your use. We are so pleased with how he personally lives out the Acts 2 values of Formission and encourages and empowers others to do the same.
Praying for you always. In His service,
Pastor T.W. Snow
I am enjoying the course formissions. I have learned so much so far. I have been born again for 30 plus years. Pastor Jeremy have opened my eyes to the scripture that I have never seen before. Just goes to prove, it’s never to late to learn and see things in a different light.
